Wiki: Creating your first RIOT project

Hi, In the spirit of Oleg’s troubleshooting wiki page, I’ve written a small document that tries to explain how to create your first RIOT project.

Being relatively new to RIOT, I thought I’d write down everything I would’ve wanted to know in the beginning and a little more:

https://github.com/RIOT-OS/RIOT/wiki/Creating-your-first-RIOT-project

Christian was so kind as to review the document, but any additional input would be greatly appreciated.

(While I do know http://riot-os.org/doc/getting_started.html and http://riot-os.org/api/, these documents (in my opinion) don’t really provide any guidance on where to start. The “first test” and “write your first application” sections of getting_started.html are a good start, but they’re buried under so much other information (that will most likely become relevant in later stages) that they’re easy to miss, especially if you’re new and a little overwhelmed.)

Cheers, Lotte

Thanks a lot!

I've just updated the page to reflect all the recent changes... I guess what is still missing now is a pointer to the next steps, i.e. the move to actual embedded hardware / explaining the source structure / extending RIOT.

Cheers, Ludwig

Agreed, but I'd dedicate an extra wiki page to each topic for the sake of clarity.
