The position revolves around a number of exciting topics including LEO cube-satellites, embedded software, crypto-agility, multi-core microcontrollers, embedded Rust and system software supply chain security. Expected activities span from distributed embedded system software modeling, design and implementations, to upstreaming to relevant open source community software, not to forget various experiments on hardware & prototypes, as well as performance evaluations aiming for publications in relevant conferences & journals.
The position will be physically based in Berlin at Freie Universität. The position is financed by the EU-based semiconductor company, which will formally be the employer. The company will substantially collaborate in practice on the work planned in this context.
Applicants must have a Masters degree. Prior experience is expected, ideally combining skills in embedded programming on 32bit microcontrollers e.g. on RIOT or Ariel OS, network stacks, Rust, cryptography.
