Build issue on Windows (8.1)

Hi RIOTers,

I am trying to build RIOT on Windows machine (64bit Windows 8.1) with Cygwin but I am getting following error.

make BOARD=mbed_lpc1768

arm-none-eabi-gcc.exe: error: /cygdrive/d/developments/RIOT/examples/ipc_pingpong/main.c: No such file or directory

arm-none-eabi-gcc.exe: fatal error: no input files

I have also started a discussion in stackoverflow :

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/28927088/arm-gcc-with-cygwin-on-windows-8-1-fatal-error-no-input-file

Is there anybody that can build RIOT on windows machine and cygwin? (I know it is not related with RIOT J )

Regards.

Murat.

Hi Murat!

make BOARD=mbed_lpc1768

arm-none-eabi-gcc.exe: error: /cygdrive/d/developments/RIOT/examples/ipc_pingpong/main.c: No such file or directory

arm-none-eabi-gcc.exe: fatal error: no input files

I have currently no Windows machine to test at hand, but could test to build with QUIET=0 make and post the output?

Cheers, Oleg

Hi Oleg,

I have used MinGW instead of Cygwin and problem is solved. Following link was very helpfull for setting MinGW : http://www.jann.cc/2013/10/10/embedded_development_with_open_source_tools_on _windows.html

Would you mind to maybe add a brief description to the RIOT wiki about building RIOT on Windows? I guess this could be very helpful for other people as well.

Cheers, Oleg

Hi!

well written guide  Thanks for the effort!

Yes, indeed. Thanks a lot. I added a link to it to the wiki start page.

Cheers, Oleg

Dear Murat!

Apparently a picture in your tutorial got removed/replaced:     ![Add to Environment Paths](http://i61.tinypic.com/xqfh9t.jpg)

I removed this from the how-to for now, but do you still have a copy that you could re-upload?

Cheers, Oleg

Hi Oleg,

I did not see any issue about picture. I have re-added same picture(address) to page again.

FYI. Murat.

Funny! Yesterday the picture was showing a red car...

Thanks, Oleg

Hi Oleg, Hi Murat,

Oleg, maybe it is a good idea if we download the images into the Wiki’s repository and link them from there?

Cheers, Martine

An easier way to add images is to just drag and drop them from a file browser into the Github markdown text edit field. Then you don't need to go through any external hosting providers to get your image onto the network.

Thanks, Oleg -- The sad thing about IPv6 jokes is that almost no one understands them and no one is using them yet.
