Hi,
I'm wondering if there is someone working on the integration of RIOT in a
network simulator, particularly OMNeT++? Cedric asked a couple of years
ago [1] the same question and there was also a GSoC task [2] about
network simulation. However, from the outside it looks like nobody is
working on it (but who know what's happening at some point in some fork).
While I've had my fair share of programming OMNeT++ and JiST/Swans, I'm
wondering how to integrate RIOT into a network simulator. What would be
the necessary steps or is there somebody at FU I could get in touch with
it to discuss it into detail?
Anyway, I'm happy about any hints/tips! Thanks in advance!
Best,
Michael

P.S.: Apparently, there is a open PR for a cooja/riot integration, but the
last time I've checked cooja wasn't really that 'super-sophisticated' (no
hard feelings).
Hi Michael!
I'm wondering if there is someone working on the integration of RIOT in a
network simulator, particularly OMNeT++? Cedric asked a couple of years

That's indeed a topic that is on our wish-list for a long time, but so far,
unfortunately, with little progress. I remember that Ludwig Knüpfer and Daniel
Câmara had some discussion about the possibility to let RIOT run with a ns-3
network some time ago. Maybe Ludwig (I think Daniel isn't subscribed here) can
share some insights about what he remembers about the outcome of this
discussion.
Concerning the planned GSoC project, regrettably, no-one picked this topic the
last two years. (I think it was proposed as a topic by the ns-3 community in
2014 and by us in 2015.)
However, if anyone knows someone - potentially outside the RIOT community -
interested in working on RIOT support for OMNeT++ or ns-3, please let us know.
This would highly appreciated.
Cheers,
Oleg
