I should note that I replied to the incorrect message in this thread. I should have replied to David, not Martine. I miss threaded world of NNTP/Usenet.

That being said, I come from a mixed background of old school real-time embedded control, desktop, and server software. It’s unfortunate that the terms overlap as much as they do (well, they do in English, I’m not sure about other languages). It seems to me that areas of study such as IoT, which tend to be rather multidisciplinary, are often even more confusing as many of us come from radically different backgrounds.

Yes I agree.

Well 'Funny App' was mentioned and to me that pointed to a potential user application software. Something a User had written to go on the a Riot powered Device.

Apologies to Martine if I used the wrong writing-tone or sent the message at the wrong time of day.

As the end-user, my eyes are trained to look anywhere I see 'Application' or 'App' and then think the guy is talking about me and where I put my 'App'.
